A rigid element extends from the diaper’s top front edge along the crotch area to the diaper’s top rear edge. The rigid element maintains a gap between the diaper and the skin surface. A solid waste containment means is retained in the gap so that the rigid element maintains the gap and prevents the containment means from becoming twisted and displaced.
